Red, green, and white tiles. American cards sometimes write the white dragon as soap.

East, South, West, North. American cards often print them as NEWS. East is the dealer.

Craks, bams, and dots. Sichuan names a suit you will not keep. Winds and dragons are not suits.

The American name for the white dragon. It is a dragon, not a joker and not a flower.

Showing a group on the rack. An American pung, kong, or quint is exposed after the call.

The dealer. The American Charleston starts from East, and East draws first.

Tiles not yet shown. An American call exposes the group. Riichi needs a closed hand.
