风 / NEWS
East, South, West, North. American cards often print them as NEWS. East is the dealer.

碰
Три однакові кістки. В американському відкривають після оголосу.
Конг
杠
Чотири однакові кістки.

Взяти скид лівого для послідовності. Американський маджонг цього не робить.

Two identical tiles. A joker cannot finish a pair.
Quint

Five identical tiles on an American card. A joker is almost always needed.
Американський стіл

Courtesy
礼貌换牌
After the Charleston, zero to three tiles with the player across. Jokers stay.
Card
牌型卡
An American win matches one printed line. The League card changes every year. This site is not that card.
Rack
牌架
The American pushing rack. Concealed tiles stand on it; exposed groups sit in front.
Soap
白皮
The American name for the white dragon. It is a dragon, not a joker and not a flower.
Exposure
亮出
Showing a group on the rack. An American pung, kong, or quint is exposed after the call.
Гра
Mahjong
胡
Declaring the hand complete. American play matches a printed line; Chinese play is usually four sets and a pair.
Discard
打出
The tile you throw after a draw. Another player may call it.
Call
叫牌
Stopping a discard to take it. In American play the group is exposed. Not a chow.
East
东家
The dealer. The American Charleston starts from East, and East draws first.
Concealed
暗
Tiles not yet shown. An American call exposes the group. Riichi needs a closed hand.
Інші ігри
Riichi
立直
Japanese mahjong: 136 tiles, no jokers, a 13-tile hand, a yaku to win.
Yaku
役
A scoring condition in riichi. Without a yaku you cannot win. American mahjong reads a printed line instead.
Fan
番
The scoring unit in Hong Kong and MCR. American mahjong scores a printed line instead.
Void suit
缺门
Sichuan 血战到底: name a suit you will not keep. No chow. Play continues after the first win.
